New York Philharmonic Orchestra

A small selection of CD covers designed for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of maestro Kurt Masur. Click on any cover to enlarge it or view them all as a slide show. These are scans from the original CDs hence the somewhat poor quality. All photographs, except for “Leningrad” and “War Requiem”, by Frans Jansen.

The Brahms series was shot inside the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York where maestro Masur was overjoyed by the original Brahms score of the second symphony. Since the orchestra and maestro Masur had equal billing and Masur had to be in the picture we decided to always show him somewhere in the city—as a metaphor for the orchestra—in relation to the music recorded.
